Hai Cá Thể Vượn Mới Được Cứu Hộ

Linh Và Dan, Một Con Vượn Má Vàng Nam Và Nữ Được Giải Cứu

Chúng tôi đã gọi để nhờ giải cứu một cặp Vượn má vàng phía Nam bao gồm cả đực và cái bị giam giữ bất hợp pháp trong gần một thập kỷ. Sau một chuyến xe ba tiếng đồng hồ, chúng tôi đã tới thành phố Hải Phòng, nơi chúng đang được nuôi trong một cái chuồng gà sau sân nhà của một gia đình.

Gia đình này đã đồng ý tự nguyện chuyển giao các cá thể linh trưởng sau khi có một người gọi cho tổ chức đối tác của chúng tôi – ENV thông qua đường dây nóng về tội phạm liên quan đến động vật hoang dã. Sau cuộc gọi này, Cảnh sát môi trường Hải Phòng, Cục Kiểm lâm Hải Phòng và cảnh sát phường đều xuống tận nhà để tịch thu vượn và chờ chúng tôi đến.

A few weeks ago, a tropical depression hit Cuc Phuong and brought heavy rain which caused terrible flooding to the whole area! EPRC was no exception and unfortunately, 30 meters of electric fence in the semi-wild area collapsed! If you haven’t supported EPRC before, now is the good time!

Vietnam's Cat Ba Langurs

1. Cat Ba Langurs’ Special Trait

Drinking salt water is a unique typical trait in Cat Ba Langurs which differentiates them from other langur species. As their only natural inhabitat area now is Cat Ba island, it seems that these langurs have adapted to their surrounding environment and seek for some salt water just like the fishermen like their food salty.

The feature picture was beautifully and timely taken by Cat Ba Langur Conservation Project – the only on-site project on Cat Ba island now which specializes in Cat Ba langurs. They established a protected langur sanctuary inside Cat Ba National Park in 2002, and work closely with the rangers to guarantee the safety of these Vietnam endemic primates which are also one of the rarest primates on Earth.

A Toad at EPRC?!?

A Toad Friend

Some weeks ago, we observed a strange scene right in EPRC. CP, the Delacour’s Langur found a toad and held it for straight 2 days. She didn’t harm the toad at all, instead, was embracing it and took care of it well.

We have never seen this before, but assume that CP might be pregnant and she was preparing for her upcoming baby. However, until now, no baby has been delivered. We will keep waiting and updating for you all

Poachers Killed 4 Langurs In Phong Nha Forest

4 Langurs Illegal Hunted With Ak-47

Two poachers in Quang Binh province went into Phong Nha forest with their AK gun and 5 bullets and killed 4 endangered langurs.

News on Monday, August 28th, 2017 by Hoang Tao – VnExpress. The image is one of the poachers – Ai with his AK gun and the evidence.

In the morning of August 28th, the policement at Bo Trach disctrict (Quang Binh province) examined the rusted AK guns in order to clarify the case of 2 illegal poachers using guns to shoot langurs in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park.

Our Feature Presentation: Singing Gibbons

Short Documentary About Singing Gibbons at EPRC

Gibbons’ song can be considered one of the most beautiful rhythms in the wildlife world. However, not many people have the chance of listening to this beautiful song as the population of this species is decreasing significantly.

Acknowledging this, Govinda-das Hugo Liénart – a volunteer in EPRC has put up an amazing work after months of observing, filming and making this short documentary about the majestic gibbons’ songs. This 5-minute short film lets audience have a peak into a small part in life of gibbons and from there, be more humble about manself as we are not the only creature on Earth who can communicate in complex form.
